I distinctly remember when I was first researching the medifast diet. There was a lot that I wanted to know about it, including: how the food tastes; how convenient the diet is; how easy (or hard) is it to stick with; it’s real effectiveness for the average person; how much it really costs; and what my life would really be like should I chose to dive in and go with it.  In this article, I’ll provide you with the information that I wish I could have found when I was considering this weight loss system.

Medifast Food Choices And Taste: First, like a lot of people, I assumed that this diet was all about the shakes.  I was wrong about that.  In fact, this diet includes over 70 food choices.  The shakes are only one example.  There are also the very popular bars, eggs, oatmeal, pudding, chili, soup, stew, hot chocolate, cappuccino, chips, fruit drinks, etc.

Convenience Of  Mideast:  The one thing that really attracted me to this diet was it’s convenience.  The company takes a lot of guess work out of the equation.  So, this one isn’t as much hard work as many diets that I have been on.  You’re provided with the food, which you will eat five times per day.  Once per day, you’re on your own and will make a “lean and green” meal which is just lean protein and vegetables.  The food is prepackaged and is really easy to prepare.  Eating six times per day wasn’t as hard as I expected as the meals are not large.  I pre assemble my meals either in the morning or the night before which only takes a few minutes so that all I have to do is eat the next day.

To, the convenience of this diet is definitely one of it’s major selling points.

Effectiveness Of Medifast: If you spend any time on weight loss forums, you’re likely seen that this is thought to be a pretty effective diet.  In fact, there is a well known John Hopkins study which indicated that folks on this diet lost twice as much weight and stayed on the diet for twice as long as folks on the other tested diet.  But, of course, I wondered if these good results were going to apply for me.  In the back of my head, I was afraid that I would be the exception to the rule.

What I didn’t understand was how this diet was designed to work. The foods are low in calories and high in protein.  This encourages your body to burn much more fat since it can’t burn carbs. The result is often quick and relatively dramatic weight loss for most. I’m happy to say that I was no exception.  I am pretty convinced that if you follow the diet’s guidelines even relatively closely and make sure that you eat all six meals to keep your metabolism going, you’ll be pretty happy with the results.

How Easy Is Medifast To Stick With:  I’m well aware that few people like to restrict what they are able to eat.  But, I’ve found that results are a great motivator.  Once the pounds start to come off, of course that encourages you to keep going.  And, once you get into the habit and into the grove of this program, you really don’t think about it much anymore.  Of course there are days where I cheat, but I make sure that I just carry on the next day and I’m not shy about changing up the foods to my own liking. Doing this hasn’t affected my results (I’m down to a six 6) and it has ensured that I continue to be content with the diet and it’s foods.

Quality Of Life On The Medifast Diet: So, is life miserable on this weight loss system? When I first got started, I remember reading a post that someone had written in the company’s forum / chat room.  It said “I’ve learned that nothing taste as good as thin and healthy feels.”  Today, I couldn’t agree more.  Sure, there are some days when I chose to cheat, but over all, I’m very happy with my quality of life.  I have more energy.  I’m healthier.  I think about food a whole lot less.  And, I look a lot better in all types of clothes.  My self confidence has improved.  Really, I was so fixated on what the day to day experience would be like with the food, but I should have been focusing on what the day to day experience would be like with my new body and health.  The truth is, there is no comparison.
